We’re pleased to announce that we concluded lease renegotiations with Lafayette College for the DKE House. I’d like to thank Peter Carlson, our Treasurer, for working closely with Lafayette’s VP of Business Affairs Mitch Wein to accomplish this new arrangement. We created a new model at Lafayette College that poises us for success.

Homecoming October 24th 2009

October 2nd, 2009 by delisim

A reminder to everyone that Homecoming is on October 24th, 2009. The game against Fordham begins at 1PM.

On Friday night, we invite attendees of the Marquis Founders dinner to a pre-reception at the House beginning at 5PM. Our alumni can then proceed to the dinner together.

Later Friday night, because we are on probation and cannot have social events on campus with alcohol, we are going to Mothers Bar and Grill on the circle in downtown Easton. We encourage alumni to stop by the House before heading down. The undergraduates will provide transportation for any alumni who require it.

On Saturday, we will be serving breakfast in the House and there will be tailgating on March Field prior to the game. The annual brothers meeting will be at noon in the living room this year. We will again have a tent up in case of inclement weather and a BBQ for food throughout the grill.

Thomas Neff ‘59 featured in Wall Street Journal

August 14th, 2009 by delisim

Our own Tom Neff ‘59 was recently featured in a Wall Street Journal article on Spencer Stuart’s role as a CEO recruiter.

As for AIG’s CEO assignment, Spencer Stuart was chosen because the recruiters “were already up to speed,” says someone close to the situation.Thomas J. Neff, Spencer Stuart’s 71-year-old U.S. chairman and top CEO recruiter, is a pivotal player. Mr. Neff, who joined the firm in 1976, has handled more than 150 CEO and more than 350 board searches, including the appointments of Boeing Co. CEO Jim McNerney and Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack.

Mr. Neff also helped recruit Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to be president of the New York Federal Reserve in 2003.

More details in the full article.

There are images of the original Rho News, our old house burning, our current house under construction on March field, the Guernica behind the bar paneling, and many other historic images.

Here’s a little flavor. For more, go to the gallery.

DKE Club Dinner in NYC

March 4th, 2009 by delisim

Mark your calendars!  Due to popular demand, we’ve organized a spring event to bring Dekes together.

On April 25th, we will be hosting a dinner for our alumni at the DKE Club in NYC from 7:30 until 10.  We are sending out invitations via snail mail that should arrive in the next week. Cost is $160 per person for the cocktail reception with premium bar service and a plated dinner including all gratuity, taxes, etc.  Menu selections to follow.  We hope to get at least 40 Dekes across all age ranges so spread the word.  RSVP to Peter Carlson at 20005 Hob Hill Way Montgomery Village, MD 20886.

For more information on the Club, which is located next to Grand Central Station at 50 Vanderbilt Ave, please see the Yale Club’s website.  If you are attending, please wear proper attire.
