This past Tuesday June 7th a number of DKE alumni attended cocktails and dinner at the Yale Club in New York City. The night kicked off with drinks on the roof overlooking Grand Central and a view of the New York Skyline. The event was organized by David Kiefer, Paul McCurdy and Jay Mehr. The turn out was phenomenal, a total of 18 DKEs made an appearance with class years ranging from ’65 to ’09. The atmosphere was great with the discussions running the gambit, from the simple “what do you do for a living?” to sharing stories of past college experiences. Business cards were exchanged and plans for future events were confirmed by handshakes. There should be many more of these types of events to come and only good things lay ahead for this group. It was great to see so many of us get together and share a common unity that does not fade after we leave the the house. Thanks to all who attended and I look forward to the next time.

We are in the early stages of planning a networking group for Rho Dekes in the New York area. We hope to create and renew relationships on both a personal and professional level. At some point, we’d like to include Rho Dekes outside the NY area, and potentially Dekes from other chapters, but in these initial stages we think that keeping it local and meeting in-person with a smaller group will be the best route. No date is set, but we are looking to meet at the DKE Club (Yale Club) in Manhattan for drinks after work in the coming weeks.

If you have interest in being included in future correspondence about this group, please respond to

Mark your calendars!  Due to popular demand, we’ve organized a spring event to bring Dekes together.

On April 25th, we will be hosting a dinner for our alumni at the DKE Club in NYC from 7:30 until 10.  We are sending out invitations via snail mail that should arrive in the next week. Cost is $160 per person for the cocktail reception with premium bar service and a plated dinner including all gratuity, taxes, etc.  Menu selections to follow.  We hope to get at least 40 Dekes across all age ranges so spread the word.  RSVP to Peter Carlson at 20005 Hob Hill Way Montgomery Village, MD 20886.

For more information on the Club, which is located next to Grand Central Station at 50 Vanderbilt Ave, please see the Yale Club’s website.  If you are attending, please wear proper attire.
