Celestino Limas was hired as Lafayette’s new VP of Campus Life and Senior Diversity Officer. Greek Life falls under his purview. This summer a new position was created, the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, under Dean McKnight in the Department of Intercultural Affairs. This move separates Greek Life from the Office of Resident Life, which is a positive change.
Also, the new Director, Stuart Umberger, is at a higher level than past Greek Advisors. This is also a very positive change. Stuart brings to Lafayette a lot of much needed experience about how to cultivate Greek Life successfully. Importantly, because he’s not in Residence Life, he’s not “the police” or a disciplinarian for Greeks. His focus is helping us succeed and carrying the positive messages of Greek Life to the administration and faculty.
The Board of Trustees considered the Greek Life Working Group’s Recommendations. More to come on DKE reaction to that decision.
