From the yearly archives: 2007

By popular demand Winterfest this year has been relocated to Brooklyn. The date is still December 22nd but the bar is Radegast Hall & Biergarten ( http://radegasthall.com/). We had some hand selected alumni scouts test the waters and it’s a go. Please note the bar opens at 3pm…..so be there at 3 pm. And I don’t want to hear any bitching about that, if you have to start drinking at 11am, then start at 11am…..just meet up with us afterwards.

The undergrads invited several DKE alumni to the house Thursday, November 8th to kickoff this exciting program at 8PM. Stephen Bielamowicz ’99, Joseph Galyean ’04, Anthony Hawthorne ’04, John Troup ’04, Michael Caulfield ’05, and Michael Lefante ’06 will be speaking about their experiences as Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Engineers at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. They will also cover the graduate school and career opportunities they’ve explored in that area. Salvatore Caiazzo ’03 will speak about his successes and career as a Civil Engineer in the Poconos.

This is the first in a series of talks that we hope to repeat each semester. In the spring we plan on hosting an event focused on legal professions. If you are interested in participating, please contact us and let us know what topic you wish to speak on. The undergrads will be reaching out to the alumni with experience in a different field they’re interested in each semester.

The board of trustees approved Lafayette’s Strategic Plan on October 20th, 2007. Our alumni association is working towards integrating our chapter’s goals into the broader vision of the college. Rest assured that DKE will continue our tradition of excellence. As always, if you have ideas on how we can improve, do not hesitate to contact us.

We tried a few things new this year. We sent out a save the date card a few weeks prior to Homecoming reminding alumni about Homecoming. Prior to the Marquis Society dinner, we hosted a reception at the DKE house, which was open to all brothers. There was a good turnout and we hope to get even more brothers back next year thanks to word of mouth. Thank you to the undergrads who welcomed the alumni back.

The officers have bold plans for Homecoming next year that you’ll be hearing about throughout the year. We will build on the progress we made this year improving it for Dekes of all ages and their families.

Following Homecoming this year, we aimed to improved communication among the alumni. One aspect of that effort is revamping the website and adding this blog, where we can post news announcements. If you have any problems accessing the forums, want to update your contact information, or have other general technical issues, contact Michael De Lisi ’03. We look forward to being more in touch more often with all of the brothers.

Special thanks to Gabe Fernandez-Obregon ’03 of GFO Design for the graphics customization.
